History
Avon PDC is now a wholly owned subsidiary of the Rical Group of companies. It was formed from the amalgamation of IMI Precision Diecastings and Avon Diecastings when IMI PDC was acquired from IMI Components in February 1998.
Diecastings came into existence in 1982 when Lightning Fasteners finally closed, leaving behind only the casting shop and toolroom. In 1985 the company moved to its present location on Holford Drive on the Holford Estate.
Originally the company was known as Lightning Fasteners which started business in the 1920's. They produced zips fasteners, from raw zinc to completed zip including puller and textile surround, ready for use in many applications. Unfortunately Lightning Fasteners did not keep pace with developments in the fastening industry and their products were largely superseded by plastic based fasteners.
